The view from the west nave beneath the vaulted tower to the chancel was probably obscured by a rood screen.

The dormitory may well have served the locality as an infirmary.

The refectory undercroft was probably used as a storage area. Ovens can still be seen in the south corners of the first floor of the Dacre Tower which, no doubt, required large amounts of logs.
